Piazza Maria Montessori The “Maestra of the maestre” Inside theMontessori District there’s the only statue in the world dedicated to Maria Montessori, who brought her method here in 1909 and later came back to establish the Study Room Maria Montessori. The statue, made by Matteo Ferroni in Carrara marble, looks to the children that daily populate the square. The statue is on Piazza Maria Montessori, intended as study room district upon an old bunker of WWII. This children square, pivot of the district life, is daily full of children from the schools and their families.
