Church of Sant’Angelo in Porta Eburnea
Via Cesare Caporali
Existing since the XI century, it depended on the Abbey of Pomposa and the Capitolo of the Cathedral. It became a parish church in the XII century. The current neoclassical appearance, dating back to the early 800s, was designed by Antonio Stefanucci.
The interior preserves local artists’ paintings of the '700 and' 800. The one on the high altar is by Cristoforo Gasperi and represents San Michele Arcangelo between San Francesco from Sales and Sant'Orsola.
On the left altar, another Gasperi’s painting with the Virgin and Saints Lucia and Apollonia. On the right, a painting by Domenico Garbi (1800) representing the Archangel Michele crushing Satan and the image of the "Virgin of Humility", surrounded by a glory of angels.
The studious and patriot from Perugia, Annibale Mariotti, is buried there, whose residence was in the nearby, Via Mariotti.
