Municipal Picture Gallery

The Municipal Picture Gallery, within the Palazzo dei Consoli, was first organized in the first years of the XX Century with the acquisition of important art works from churches of Deruta. Together with the Regional Museum of Ceramics, the Pinacoteca Comunale of Deruta constitutes the municipal museum circuit.

The collection of the Gallery is rich and diversified; after recent works it has also been enlarged and rearranged: on the first floor works of art from the local churches of San Francesco and Sant’Antonio Abate. Of great artistic interest the fresco by Pietro Vannucci also knows as Il Perugino: Eternal and Santi Romano and Rocco with underneath a view of Deruta; two works by Niccolò di Liberatore, also known as l’Alunno: Madonna dei Consoli, the two sides Gonfalon of Sant’Antonio Abate, used as Gonfalon for ecclesiastic processions from the XV Century to 1953; and the parchment Franciscan Missal from the XIII Century.

On the upper floor the “Collezione Lione Pascoli “, acquired in 1931 thanks to a donation; it is constituted by about 40 canvases. Among the works, all representing the Roman collecting era of the first years of XVIII Century, paintings by: Giovanni Battista Gaulli, also known as il Baciccio, Antonio Amorosi, Francesco Trevisani, Sebastiano Conca, Francesco Graziani and Pieter Van Bloemen.
