Hand Weaving Workshop – Museum of Giuditta Brozzetti

Via Berardi 5/6 - Ex chiesa di S. Francesco delle Donne

Continuity in the umbrian weaving tradition

The Atelier is situated in the deconsecrated church of San Francesco delle Donne, first Franciscan settlement in Perugia.

Founded by Giuditta Brozzetti in 1921 as a workshop-school with the aim of reproducing traditional Umbrian textiles of medieval and renaissance origins, it is now one of the very last Atelier still in activity in Italy.

Despite modern technology, the fourth-generation Marta remains committed to continuity by employing XVII-century pedal looms and XIX-century Jacquard looms.
