Palazzo Conestabile
On top of the hill of Porta Sole, the highest of the city, in the Connnestabile della Staffa Palace, is the Municipal Library Augusta, one of the oldest Italian public libraries.
Opened in 1582 with the donation by the Humanist of Perugia Prospero Podiani to Perugia Municipality of his own private library, it has been so continuously since 1623.
Manuscripts, incunables, XVI century editions, 1600 to 1830 editions, prints and geographical maps, historical journals make it the most important historical and preservation library of Umbria.
Augusta is a library to be discovered, heart and memory of Perugia, main preserver of all historic and cultural documentation of the city.
Opening hours: From Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 6:30 pm; Saturdays 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
