The Libirary, mainly concerned with Literature and History, Etruscology and Italian Art History, Linguistics and relating subjects, anthropology, Law, communication sciences and political sociology, owns about 62.000 volumes and more than 150 newspapers and magazines, both Italian and Foreigner.
It is part of the Servizio Bibliotecario Nazionale (SBN) and offers the inter-loan service.
There are 3 reading rooms, all with electric plugs for portable devises.
_ 1st floor reading room (Palazzina Valitutti, via Carlo Manuali 3, close to the Parco Santa Margherita) for individual study, consultation and loan of books, textbooks, magazines and newspapers
_2nd floor reading room (Palazzina Valitutti), only for research of final year grant and PHD students; it holds volumes and magazines of the former Library of the Department of Human and Social Sciences
_at Palazzo Gallenga (Piazza Fortebraccio) a reading room with the volumes of the families Gallenga Stuart Schunk, Schnabl-Rossi and Pittola, among which 4 incunables, 34 books printed in the XVI Century (among which rare and precious editions), 55 books printed in the XVII Century, 278 books printed in the XVI Century and over 500 books printed in the XIX Century.
