Palazzo Baldeschi, said “al Corso” (placed in Corso Vannucci) to distinguish it from the one with the same name in degli Aratri (today piazza Cavallotti), is the result of the union, in different moments, of several buildings that once occupied the area between Corso Vannucci, via Baldo, via dello Struzzo and via Baglioni. Traces of the Medieval core, around which other really considerable parts were built, are still visible in via Baldo. In this Palace, in the XIV Century, lived Baldo degli Ubaldi (or Baldeschi), famous Juristconsul.
Inside decorations made mainly in the XIX Century. Of particular interest is the Sala delle Muse (Muse room) frescoed by the painter from Tolentino Mariano Piervittori in 1856. In the rooms of the Palace, the art collections of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Perugia are exposed, among which the big on of Renaissance Majolica, consisting of more than a hundred extraordinary pieces, and the Marabottini Collection, important bequest by the scholar and collector Alessandro Marabottini Marabotti (1926-2012), consisting of more than seven hundred works of art as paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, miniatures waxworks, glasses, ivory and majolica works and fornitures, mainly dating from the XVI and the XX Centuries, organized permanently as was the will of the Collector, Palazzo Baldeschi hosts moreover many temporary exhibitions, usually in the Piano Nobile (main floor) rooms.
