The Sound Archives 'Oreste Trotta' is open to everybody and offers several different paths in different musical genres and in high quality listening.

Opened in 1990, it was held, until 2002, by private operators. Since April 2002 it is managed directly by the Region of Umbria, Servizio Valorizzazione delle risorse culturali (Area Valorization of cultural heritage).

It bestows 25.000 vinyl LPs , 10.000 CDs, 2.000 tapes, 15.000 music scores.
Beyond the original Fondo Trotta, acquired by the Regione Umbria in 1977, also the funds Buitoni, Briccetti, Polnauer, De Froment, Faina, Costantini, Liverani, Checcarelli, Ranieri di Sorbello, Baldelli, Gelsomini, Silvestrini, Anzalone, Vernata, Rufini, Sarti and others.

Entrance and loans are free of charge, as in all public libraries.
To access to the service, one must enroll, with a valid ID and signing the appointed registration form.  Loan is possible for a maximum of 2 CDs a week.
Vinyl records can be listened only inside.
Music scores, booth classic and contemporary. Are to be consulted inside, together with the main music dictionaries, Italian and foreigners, such as the Grove.

The Sound archives organizes meetings and conferences, take part in regional projects on sound landscape in order to promote contemporary sound cultures.  
It works for the international festival Segnali-Arti Audiovisive e Performance together with the Music Conservatorium 'F. Morlacchi' and the Academy of Fine Arts 'P. Vannucci' of Perugia. 

Opening Hours: Mondays to Fridays 9:00 am – 1:00 pm | Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm

The Archives is on the first floor and there is no elevator or escalator for the access of disabled people.
