Benedectine itinerary

Visit Perugia

From the city center, going downwards along the sant’Ercolano steps and via Cavour, you reach through borgo XX Giugno, the Benedictine Abbey of san Pietro (1).

Going outside the city borders, worth a visit are the outposts of the abbey of san Pietro, or the Castle of Casalina (2), in Deruta, and Sant’Apollinare di Spina (3), in Marsciano.

Other important monastic centres of the order close to the city and easily reached are the Santa Maria Valdiponte Abbey in Montelabate (4) and the San Salvatore Abbey in Montecorona (5), active monastic centre in Umbertide.

It could be also interesting a visit to the Abbey of the Seven Friars (6), near Pietrafitta (Piegaro).
